I personally like it because part of that arc was realising that while whats-his-name was a fairly decent boyfriend, he could also be a dick. Episodes often end with her mumbling an apology to what's-his-name and that's a far cry from the Daria who would troll Britney,īUT a defense would be that it allowed Daria to show a greater vulnerability that the earlier seasons couldn't let her do because her defensive sarcasm wouldn't let her. ![]() ![]() The people who dislike it dislike how it put Daria in a place of powerlessness. There seems to be a bit of a backlash these days with people saying Daria was a snob or mean or something. What about later series where Daria got a boyfriend etc? It doesn't feel quite as iconic, but I can't remember if it was much of a deterioration. How can you not like lines like "I like having low self-esteem, it makes me feel special."Īnd a bunch of memorable characters, who felt like real people such as you could find at high school.
